Our new friends at Landscapes for Learning

Outdoor learning for schools in the UK is one of our passions. It is our hope that one day, every school can offer children outdoor learning classrooms and equipment to enhance learning and inspire young minds. We believe that children need enticing back outside away from the screens to take time to simply play.

We now have the pleasure of working with the 'Landscapes for Learning' who share our passion. Founded and run by Gwenllian and her husband Craig Hill in Cardiff, Landscapes for Learning design and make outdoor learning equipment for schools in the UK.  Gwenllian and Craig are both passionate about providing quality, innovative equipment to inspire and stimulate outdoor play for children.

Craig, a former teacher, saw the need for outdoor learning provision in UK schools. He left his teaching career, trained in joinery and started Landscapes for Learning alongside Gwenllian. Craig explains, "I ended up building a mud kitchen for a friend who told me that her school was looking to develop the outdoor space. I did a bit of research online and started building a variety of mud kitchens which help develop fine and gross motor skills and numeracy while children play."

Craig was recently on the TV show Dragons Den, where he walked away with backing from  Dragon Peter Jones. Peter invested £50,000 in the business in return for a 30% equity stake. Peter said, "I want to help Craig make this type of learning accessible for everyone. Ultimately, if our children benefit, so do we all."  (BBC News)

New vehicle arc design for wide vehicles

Forget ugly tractor sheds and vehicle ports, look at this stunning vehicle shelter. No planning permission required, a truly mobile vehicle shelter.

The problem with wide vehicles is that once you have backed the vehicle into the Arc, how do you get out? Mark got around this problem by building an 'Arc Wing' on the side. This allows the driver to exit the vehicle arc at the back. Simple, effective, beautiful.

The customer says...
"WOW!!!!!
I just wanted to drop you a line to say how FABULOUS I think the Arc is! It is truly beyond my expectations! I think it looks perfect and Mark has done a smashing job. Please convey my thanks and appreciation to him. I can sleep soundly now that the tractor is cosy in her Arc - and just in time too, what with all this wintry weather!"

Woodland owners take shelter

Woodland owners in the UK can bask in the shelter of their woodlands during the milder months, but when it comes to the winter, trees won't provide adequate protection. If woodland owners spend hours in their woodlands all year long, they need a woodland shelter which is a bit more watertight and cosy, to truly make the most of their woodland, all year round, whatever the weather.

But how do you add a practical shelter without hindering the natural beauty of UK woodlands?  There are many ways you can build your own woodland shelter, depending on how handy you are and the resources you have to hand. But if you don't have the time or inclination to build your own woodland shelter, having a shelter
delivered and built for you is a good option.

Alfresco Arch based in Lincoln design and build arc shaped, timber shelters, which blend beautifully into woodland settings. Suppliers of rural organisations such as the National Trust, Wildlife Trust and Countryside Alliance, Alfresco Arc…
